Meetings of the RCEP Joint Committee (RJC)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/td>\r\n\t\t<\/tr>\r\n\t<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\n\r\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>• The 1st RJC Meeting <\/span><\/span><\/strong>between 25-27 April 2022, via video conference, which was the first meeting after RCEP entered into force on 1 January 2022. The key issues discussed were the Rules of Procedure of the RCEP Joint Committee; the Rules of Procedures for Panel Proceedings and its code of conduct; the Rules of Procedure on India’s Participation in the RCEP, the establishment of the RCEP Secretariat, the plan of action for the RCEP Joint Committees, and the implementation of the obligations under the RCEP agreement, the establishment of the five RCEP Joint Committees, and so forth.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

• The 2nd RJC Meeting <\/span><\/strong><\/span>on 25 August 2022, via video conference. The meeting discussed and followed up on the progress of the implementations as follows:
\r\n     1) Noted the intersessional adoption of the Rules of Procedure of the RCEP Joint Committee and the Rules of Procedure on India’s Participation in the RCEP.
\r\n     2) Entry into force and ratification of the RCEP agreement.
\r\n     3) Transposition of customs tariffs from HS 2012 to HS 2017 and HS 2017 to HS 2022.
\r\n     4) Issues relating to the rules of origin.
\r\n     5) Other issues such as the establishment of the RCEP Secretariat.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

• The 3rd RJC Meeting <\/span><\/strong><\/span>on 20-22 February 2023 in Bandung, Republic of Indonesia. The Meeting discussed and followed up on the implementation of the obligations under the RCEP Agreement in line with the decision of the RCEP Ministerial Meeting on 17 September 2022, including 
\r\n     1) Transposition of Tariff Commitments under the agreement to HS 2022 and in line with the revision by World Customs Organization; 
\r\n     2) Establishment of the RCEP Support Unit under the ASEAN Secretariat and allocation of supporting budget; and 
\r\n    3) Workplan of the RCEP Joint Committee and implementation of the RCEP commitments, such as the process for accepting new members and implementing economic cooperation projects.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

• The 4th RJC Meeting<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>on 17-19 July 2023 in Surabaya, Republic of Indonesia. The meeting of the senior officials for the RCEP agreement took place for the first time since the agreement came into force for all 15 RPCs. The Meeting followed up on the implementation of the RCEP obligations, especially the establishment of the RCEP Support Unit under the ASEAN Secretariat and the supporting budget for the operation of the Unit, as well as on the process of accepting new members for RCEP.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

The RCEP Ministerial Meeting<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/td>\r\n\t\t<\/tr>\r\n\t<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\n\r\n

The 2nd RCEP Ministerial Meeting <\/strong><\/span>on 21 August 2023 in Semarang, Republic of Indonesia. The meeting took place with the following key outcomes: The 2nd RCEP Ministerial Meeting welcomed the entry into force of the RCEP Agreement for Indonesia and the Philippines and exchanged experience on promoting the utilisation of the RCEP Agreement and ways to strengthen economic integration in the region. The Meeting noted the performance of the RCEP Joint Committee (RJC) over the past year and endorsed the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the RCEP Supporting Unit under the ASEAN Secretariat and the document on funding arrangement as adopted by the RJC.
